Welcome From Referee Richard Steele

During my career as a referee, I had the pleasure of refereeing such epic battles as Thomas Hearns vs. Sugar Ray Leonard, Julio Caesar Chavez vs. Meldrick Taylor, Alexis Arguello vs. Aaron Pryor and the greatest 3 rounds of boxing Marvelous Marvin Hagler vs. Thomas Hearns. Over the last few years, after retiring as a referee, I became a promoter and matchmaker and got the opportunity to experience another side of the great sport of boxing. Although I have relished this experience, I am making a return as a referee. I look forward to getting back in the ring and again perfecting the craft I enjoyed for 30 years.

I have been very fortunate to enjoy a successful career in boxing which culminated in the election to the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 2000. Although this was a great honor, one of my greatest achievements is my daily influence on the troubling youth of Henderson and Las Vegas, Nevada through my foundation – Richard Steele Boxing Club. It is through this program where I can help kids stay off the streets by teaching them boxing and martial arts as well as provide life skills they can leverage for their future.
